Constitution

The Makhdum Zaadgan Family Fund (MZFF) was established in 2005, in Karachi, Pakistan.

The MZFF’s sole purpose is the equitable and anonymous distribution of zakat to deserving individuals within the Makhdum Zaadgan family.

The MZFF is a voluntary, not-for-profit organization. It not a registered entity; however it is subject to the following rules:

  1. Members of the Board of Directors
  1. Members appointed to the MZFF Board of Directors must be members of the Makhdum Zaadgan family or must have married into the family.
  2. Members may be appointed to the Board of Directors by a majority vote of the existing board.
  3. The Board of Directors must, at all times, comprise two treasurers, an administrator, and a secretary to be a functioning entity.
  4. It is the responsibility of the administrator to distribute funds to the recipients of the fund in a timely manner.

  4. Maintain accurate accounts for the MZFF
  1. Stipulations and Restrictions
  1. Recipients of the fund are approved by the Board of Directors
  2. Stipend amounts may be distributed according to funds available to the MZFF
  3. Recipients of the fund must be kept anonymous.
  4. Members of the Board of Directors may request a loan from the MZFF, subject to these conditions:
    • Major donors to the Fund should be notified of the request, which means that committee members may not avail the anonymity of a regular recipient.
    • A majority of both the donors and the members of the committee must have no objection to the request.
  5. Loans/Qarz-e-Hasna may be granted for a minimum period of five (5) years. However, the Board of Directors may write off the loan at their discretion, subject to a majority vote.
  6. Funds may be invested at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
  7. Any investments/accounts made/opened in MZFF’s name must have two signatories (the Treasurers).
  8. Donors may request an independent audit of the accounts at any time. They may also request an audit of the amounts delivered to recipients of the fund, though recipient names will not be revealed to the donors.
  1. Dissolution

If the MZFF is no longer functioning, it is the responsibility of the Board of Directors to

  1. Notify recipients in writing that funds will no longer be available to them via the MZFF
  2. Notify the donors, individually and in writing, that the MZFF is no longer accepting donations
  3. Reconcile the accounts, and ensure that any remaining funds are distributed
    • To the recipients, covering a minimum of three months’ stipend
    • To another charitable organisation
  1. Amendments

This constitution may be amended by unanimous approval of the Board of Directors, and a person nominated by the Founder of the fund (in the case that she is no longer a member of the MZFF).
